Speaking to new people? Check. Creating content rapidly? Check. Working on different varieties of media? Also, check. However, analytics, data, and tracking codes - now that’s a different story.
We’ll rewind slightly to where it all began around 6 years ago, where I wasn’t too sure where I wanted to end up after finishing my final year of sixth form.
After passing college with a media diploma under my arm whilst working at a local marketing company - I found myself wondering what was next.
When I decided that journalism would be the next step of my career, it was a surprise for everyone…including me.
Fast forward three years later when I had finally graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, I found myself asking the same question 17-year-old Grace had asked herself a few years prior: what comes next?
Being thrown into a global pandemic at the time of graduating wasn’t originally in the game plan of the start of my career. This meant that job hunting suddenly became even more difficult, and I found myself struggling to receive emails back from employers, let alone an interview.
Luckily, I landed my marketing executive job at Brand iQ in January 2021. And boy, was I relieved (and continue to be grateful for the opportunity.)
As a journalism graduate, I’ve been able to transfer my skills over to my job role – but there was one thing missing: I didn’t know how marketing works.
Sure, I could get by with the knowledge I have under my belt, but I knew I could always be better. So that’s why I’ve decided to take on another degree whilst working full time.
The Udacity Digital Marketing Nanodegree has been designed to fit into my working schedule easily.
I only need to dedicate 10 hours a week outside my working hours, take part in engaging video lessons and complete projects after each course.
By taking on this course, I am beginning to open my skill set even further by learning the ins and outs of marketing – helping me broaden my horizons for the future.
The reason I have taken part in this course is to provide top quality marketing for Brand iQ’s digital channels to help us gain more software sales, as well as improving our customer relationship with our partner companies.
