As you've probably guessed from the title, here is a make up brush cleaner that you can try out.! I've used this one many, many times before and I have to say it really works. So this DIY is how to wash your makeup brushes by using everyday items you will have in your house! So lets get into the DIY. I will show you how to do this in 5 easy steps!
What you'll need:
- Washing up liquid
- Oil (either olive or coconut oil)
- Water
- Your makeup brushes
- A small bowl
Step 1:
Pour in one tablespoon of washing up liquid into your mixing bowl. It sounds weird having to use washing up liquid however, it breaks down the oils and residue that your makeup leaves on the brush. Here , I used a anti bacterial one, so that all of the bacteria left behind will be gone from the brush completely! |
Step 2:
Add a small drop of COLD water to the washing up liquid. This will ensure liquidity and it will be easier for the brushes to foam up. After adding the water, add about 3 drops of oil into the water and washing up liquid mixture. This will keep the brushes soft when next in use(TOP TIP: ensure you use cold water so that the glue of the brisels won't melt, which would cause each of the hairs to fall off).
Step 3:
After doing this dip your brush into the mixture. Then, start swirling your brush in circular motions on the palm of your hand. Make sure you don't add too much force when doing the circular motions as you don't want to put too much pressure on the brush!
Step 4:
Leave the brush to settle in the foam substance for around 5 minutes, in this time (if you have other brushes), clean them by following the steps 1 through 3.
Step 5:
Rinse the brush under cold water, to ensure all the foam has exited the brush. Use a squeezing motion to release all of the foam and you should rend up with a orange residue coming from your brushes (especially your foundation one.) Then pat the brush dry on a towel and leave to air dry overnight.
Finished!
And now you're done! I do this every month or so to get rid of all the bacteria in the brushes. Doing this once a month will reduce spots on your face after applying your makeup because the brushes are clean!
