Well, what a busy weekend! As you can probably tell from the title I have returned from a cheerleading competition held in Bournemouth. I am so so so tired but feel a great buzz from the whole entire weekend that I was in Bournemouth for!
My cheer squad:
I joined back in September last year and on my first session I felt extremely welcome by all the girls in Stardust and both of the coaches! When I joined, I had very limited skills (all i could manage was a forward roll) but I was challenged and got placed into something which I had never done before which is basing a stunt. But I felt like I got to grips with this position quite easily and I have loved every minute of basing (even if it is hard work sometimes!) Ever since joining the squad, I feel like I've come out of my shell more and have gained more confidence within myself! I look forward to my Thursdays each week because that means seeing everyone at cheer!
Future cheer competition:
When arriving at the BIC, thats when the nerves began to kick in, big time! Even though I had already been to a Future Cheer competition, I was just as nervous. The stage was larger and the crowd was MUCH bigger. Our routine was much tougher this year and when practising beforehand not everything went to plan. This is when we all began to panic and I tried my best to not put negative thoughts into my mind! Nonetheless, we performed to the best of our ability and I felt SO good after performing, its all we could ask for! We didn't win our level but I enjoyed my day with all the Stardust squad and watching all the other cheerleaders from the higher level and of course visiting the beach.
It's going to weird not going once a week to cheer over the summer holidays, but I will look forward to September when we can all go back and work on another great routine!
