Well, I've had a fairly busy week, but I've had a very busy Sunday. If you live in or near the town I live in, then you may probably of heard of an event (ran by my mum and her wonderful committee) called Royston in Blue. And well, thats what has taken up my Sunday as well as one of my blog posts!
Background information
The day of the run:
I got up there a bit too early, but decided just to stick around and wait for all my friends to turn up. My mum was panicking (as always) because things went too smoothly for this race. But like I said, its better to be prepared! So everything was sorted about 2 hours before the race was initially meant to start, so I played the waiting game until people started to show up.
All my friends arrived quite early, because my "team" for the run still had to sign up. Whilst busying around with photographs & sorting out other things for the race, time went by really quickly and before we knew it, we were starting our warm up!
And then we were off! Now, like I said I was filming this whole event so I wasn't in the mood for running the whole thing. Because of this we stayed back and let all the runners go first and complete the course without us getting in the way! Then our group split as two of us walked and two ran (we weren't very successful in staying as a "team"!
However, we caught up with each other and then realised we were near the back, so we began to speed walk our way through the crowd, well we attempted to at least. However, even though we were walking our way round, the marshals of the race were lovely and cheered us on!
We got to the final leg of the course. Hot, sweaty and annoyed due to the realisation that we had to do 2 laps (sorry girls for mistaking that bit) we decided to run. I'd like to think I'm okay at running, but with a camera bag, DSLR in your hand (I'm definitely investing in a GoPro) and wearing a pair of converse its a VERY different story. My friends all zoomed off whilst I was struggling to carry 100 things at once BUT we all managed to finish together (kinda…)
